Services

As well as its ongoing research and development of software products for science and engineering, Apps & More provides the following services:

the release of shareware and freeware products

custom software solutions for scientific and engineering problems

custom AppleScript scripting, and

technical assessments of software, documents, and projects

Shareware and Freeware
In the course of developing internal projects, Apps & More sometimes identifies software modules that are appropriate for release as either shareware or freeware. See the Script Timer, Track Timer, and Freeware pages.

Custom Software
Apps & More will do custom software development for scientific and engineering problems, using object oriented programming techniques and emphasizing ease of use even for the most demanding applications. I have a particular interest in optimal user interface design.
Apps & More has experience developing in several languages, including C++, Java, C, FORTRAN, and AppleScript, and Objective-C using the Cocoa frameworks for Macintosh OS X.
Apps & More is prepared to work to the highest standards of Quality Assurance and offers ongoing support for the lifetime of any custom software written by the company.
Complete documentation is considered part of the job, beginning with a detailed proposal that is the basis for costing and forms part of the contractual agreement. This proposal is followed by a detailed technical specification that is completed prior to any coding. All code written is self documenting, and a technical manual with sufficient detail to allow another person to maintain the code is also provided. Finally, a user's manual geared to the level of the user specified by the customer is included.

Custom AppleScripting
AppleScript is a powerful and very useful scripting language that comes with every Mac. Apps & More will do custom script development for any application. Well designed scripts can result in large time savings and efficiencies, and pay for themselves many times over.
AppleScript allows the user to control the operating system and many complex applications, including those for graphics, desktop publishing, data bases, web browsing, and e-mail, with its friendly English-like commands. It can be used to automate routine computing activities as well as complex work flows. AppleScript has been part of Macintosh since System 7, and has been reinvigorated with the coming of OS X with many new and powerful features, including complete access to the underlying Unix system.

Technical Assessments
If you have a piece of software, a document, a project, or anything else in the realm of the physical sciences that you'd like a second opinion on, just let me know. I may be able to help.
